Facing strong pressure from ARM-based processors, Intel, at a recent investors conference, has pointed out that the company will implement a significant change to its CPU R&D strategy and will focus on accomplishing several designs for notebooks such as thinner and lighter appearances, 10 hours of battery longevity, performance enhancements as well as instant boot, while its Atom processors are expected to see a significant drop in power consumption within the next two years.
Intel's change in its notebook platform strategy will help the company to defend against the assault of the tablet PC, but the company is still unlikely to challenge ARM's position in the next two years.
