Touch screens are fashionable nowadays, the U505 S2010 is equipped with a fuzzy-looking touch screen that provides minimal convenience and lowers screen quality.
This notebook is a midrange 13.3-inch (1280 x 800 + Webcam) machine with four gigs of DDR3 RAM and a 2.26GHz Core i5 CPU. Furthermore it has a 500GB HDD and a keyboard with LED backlighting.
Weight: The weight of 4.5+ LBS is somewhat higher than the average laptop and is availabel in three colors: Brown, Red and Pink.
Ports:
Left Side: VGA and HDMI connectors, a combined eSATA and USB port, 1x USB 2.0
Right side: 1x USB 2.0, RJ45 Ethernet, power, S/P DIF - Headphone port.
Front: a memory-card reader.
The Windows 7 x64 boot-up time was very low, Full HD video with the H.264 codec played well and 1080p was no problem. This machine is not meant for gamers since it doesn't have a discrete graphics card.
Benchmarks: PCMark Vantage was 4,781 PCMarks.
Battery life Lasted for app. three hours, because of the high-end components the battery life might even be less when watching videos or playing games
Software: The budled and installed software seems to lack the 'garbage' other manufacturers preinstall on your machine, but after a closer look you'll find it in the 'start menu'.
Conclusion:
The Satellite U505 has a lot of power foor a 13.3-inch machine, of course you loose battery life and portability. The S2010 wasn't recommended by the reviewer because of the touch screen which drives up the price and diminishes the image quality.
