march 19 2010 review by laptopmag

This netbook was compared to the ASUS 1005PE-P, Toshiba Mine NH305-N410 and the Dell Inspiron Mini 10.
Conclusion:
The Eee PC 1001P held up well when performing everyday computing tasks. The reviewers liked the 1001P better than the 1005PE-P, because the
1001P avoid fingerprints and the keyboard feels larger. They prefer the more expensive Toshiba mini NB305 however, but with a smaller hard
drive and 802.11b/g Wi-Fi, the 1001P is OK.
Heat: After playing a video at full screen for 15 minutes, the temperature of the touchpad was 91 degrees Fahrenheit and in between the
G and H keys it was 90 degrees, above 95 degrees can be considerd unpleasant.
Display Quality: The LED-backlit display on the 1001P provided decent image quality with bright colors and the horizontal viewing angle
was good.
HD Transfer Test: a 4.97GB mixed-media folder was transferd @ 17.5 MBps, 8.6 MBps slower than the 1005PE-P, which has a faster HDD.
Graphics: The Intel GMA 3150 integrated graphics chip delivered a score of 155 on 3DMark06 and A 720p video could be played back
smoothly, using streaming video it stuttered from time to time when viewed @ full screen
Battery Life: The 1001P (4400-mAh) battery lasted for about 8:23 hours, three hours longer than the category average.
Benchmarks: 3DMark06, HD Transfer Test, Oxelon video transcoding, Geekbench, boot time, total watts to charge, charge time, outside
heat on various spots, green efficiency rating.
