This processer is pretty cheap and is 200MHz slower than the Athlon II X2 265 the fastes CPU in the AMD Dual core budget line. Since games are getting more and more dependent on graphics cards instead of processors it can run the latest games with high Quality Settings.

The Athlon II X2 255 is clocked at 3100Mhz, 300MHz faster than the X2 240. The extended features include MMX+, 3DNow+, SSE, SSE2, SSE3, SSE4A, x86-64 and AMD-V. This CPU also has low operating temperatures thanks to AMD Power Saving Features like cool and quiet, which is used mostly in idle mode.

The reviewers did not perform any overclocking with this CPU. With the Athlon II X2 240 CPU a result of 3752MHz was reached with an ASUS M4A785D-M PRO mainboard.
