The new Sandy Bridge E series processors for the Premimum Performance line are a six-core CPU, clocked @ 3200MHz with 12MB shared Level 3 Cache, this six core will probably have a K extension an is fully unlocked. After the launch of GeForce GTX550 Ti for app. $150, AMD is launching the Radeon HD6790, at app. the same pricepoint. Based on the Barts GPU that's also powering the HD6800 series, this product is a cheaper version of the HD6800 series like the 4830 and 5830 are cheaper verions of the 4800 and 5800 series respectively.

Whether or not AMD calls the Radon HD6790 the successor of the AMD Radeon HD5830, that's what it is. So 5830 comparisons are quite appropriate, both to look at what AMD did well at and where it doesn't quite escapes its ancestor. ....More
